Welcome Message
|
Welcome to the website for the Northern California
Chapter of URISA (NorCal URISA). The counties contained
within the chapter's territory are listed above. If you live and/or work
in any of these counties, or in the vicinity, you are welcome to join the
NorCal URISA Chapter. (PLEASE NOTE: If you live and/or work in the
Bay Area, you may wish to check out the Bay Area Automated Mapping Association
(BAAMA) website. BAAMA is
the URISA chapter representing the Bay Area Region.)
It is the goal of the Northern California Chapter of URISA to
provide educational opportunities to the local GIS community and to
further the goals and objectives of the Urban and Regional
Information Systems Association. We welcome any input regarding desirable chapter
activities, please visit our contact page
to send us your comments or suggestions. We will use this input to plan upcoming chapter
events and/or make improvements to the Chapter.

Mission Statement
The Northern California Chapter of URISA is dedicated to serving its constituent region through
professional development activities, objective educational outreach, open networking opportunities,
and advocacy for effective uses of geospatial technologies and information.
Vision Statement
To become the essential professional organization for urban and regional information systems practitioners
in the Northern California region, promoting both the individuals and organizations engaged in the use
and integration of geospatial information technologies for the management and improvement of both the
environment and our communities.

Join us for a discussion on the new Geospatial Technology
Competency Model
In July of this year the US Department of Labor’s Employment and
Training Administration announced the release of an industry
competency model for geospatial technology. We'll tell you
want this means and how it can benefit the industry (See flyer for
more details). In addition the chapter will be presenting plans for the upcoming year including:
- Upcoming Holiday social
- Training opportunities
- Scholarship programs
- Recruitment of Committee members for the Chapter
- Overall goals of the chapter for next year
Most of all, this is an opportunity for the Chapter to get to know what is going on amongst its members
You do not have to be a chapter member to attend this meeting, but we encourage you to join this organization
and lend your support to future topics and meetings.

Congratulations to our 2010-2011 Board of Directors!
Elections for the 2010-11 Board of Directors have concluded and we have
several new
member on the Board. The new officers'
terms begin on July 1st, 2010.

Our Board meetings are also open to any member. Let us know if you are
interested in attending and we'll pass on the conference call or meeting
location information to you.
The Board would like to wish you all a happy and safe summer, and we
